3D Senior environment / Lighting Artist

As a Senior 3D Environment Artist, my role was to support the talented team through multiple complex levels during a five-month freelance mission. I was truly honored to contribute significantly to the Level Art and the intricate lighting process across several stages, ensuring that each element was visually compelling. Additionally, I had the opportunity to assist in the development of the lighting baking pipeline workflow, enhancing overall efficiency. Here, we will focus specifically on THE Lvl 03: HOT OVENS part 02 , which presented unique challenges and creative opportunities.

Composition and Lighting

BREAKDROWN

Optimized lighting in a stylized environment was achieved by reducing lightmaps by a factor of 2.5x and setting background assets to 'Movable,' which effectively eliminated unnecessary shadows and contributed to improved performance results. Additionally, 'Cast Shadows' was disabled on non-critical objects in the scene to maintain the visual quality while significantly boosting frame rates. This careful adjustment successfully balanced aesthetics with the technical constraints, ultimately enhancing the overall efficiency of the scene.
